First Call For Papers International Symposium On Advances In Geographic Information Systems
14.03.2006

November 10-11, 2006 Arlington, Virginia, USA

In 2006, ACM-GIS comes full circle and returns to where it started: Arlington, Virginia. The 2006 International Symposium of ACM GIS will be the fourteenth of a series of symposia/workshops that began in 1993 with the aim of bringing together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners carrying out research and development in novel systems in which geospatial data and knowledge is central.

The symposium has a tradition of fostering interdisciplinary discussions and research in all aspects of geographic information systems. It provides a forum for original research contributions and practical system design, implementation, and applications of spatial database technology and GIS.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • Computational geometry
  • Middleware architectures
  • Spatial data mining
  • Mobile and ubiquitous computing
  • Data modeling
  • Multiple representations
  • Data quality
  • Novel and challenging applications
  • Geosensor networks
  • Query processing and optimization
  • Spatial and spatiotemporal indexing (incl. metadata and ontologies)
  • Graphical aspects
  • Tracking of mobile objects
  • Real-time spatio-temporal applications
  • Location-based services
  • Privacy management for location-based services
  • Image databases
  • Similarity search
  • Meta data management for data quality
  • Spatial data integration and public data repositories
  • Interoperability and standards
  • Spatial reasoning
  • Traffic and transportation telematics
  • Virtual reality and 3D
  • Augmented georeality
  • Visual query languages
  • Management of raster and vector data
  • Web applications
Authors are invited to submit full papers (in English, 11pt font, not exceeding 10 pages, in PDF format) reporting original and unpublished research results on the above or related topics. All submitted papers will be refereed for quality, originality and relevance by the Program Committee. The acceptance/rejection of the papers will be based on the review results. All questions should be addressed to the program committee chair.
